Some of our past marathon and half marathon finisher’s medals

All finishers get a medal. They are not dinner plate sized, nor do they incurr baggage surcharges if you are flying home afterwards. In the words of one runner, “they are more like jewellry”. Each year our local sculptor Richard Klyver of Eastport designs a unique new medal based on a local marine species. Each medal is hand cast in lead-free pewter, individually tooled, and hand strung on fishermen’s twine. 10K finishers receive a local cedar medallion (not pictured). Ultramarathon finishers receive a marathon finisher’s medal in addition to a ceramic ultramarathon plaque.

If you see Dick on the finish line – one of his focii is human and animal movement – you might tell him what you think of his work.
